How to Arm and Disarm Your System Using the 5" Keypad

Purpose

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for arming and disarming your security system using the 5-inch touchscreen keypad.


Before You Begin

Verify that:

  • All protected doors and windows are closed.
  • The keypad displays "SYSTEM READY".
  • The system status shows "DISARMED".

If the system is not ready, check for any open zones or contact your supervisor before proceeding.


Arming the System

Step 1: Select Arm Mode

From the home screen, press the ALL button.

Step 2: Confirm Arming

The keypad will display:

"Press button to arm system"

Press ALL again to confirm.

Step 3: Enter Your User Code

When prompted, enter your assigned user code.

Step 4: Exit the Building

After entering your code:

  • The exit delay countdown will begin.
  • Leave the protected area before the countdown expires.
  • Ensure all entry/exit doors are secured behind you.

Step 5: Verify System Status

The keypad should display:

  • PERIMETER ON
  • ARMED

This confirms the system has been successfully armed.


Disarming the System

Step 1: Access the Disarm Screen

Upon entering the building, locate the keypad and select the shield/status icon.

Step 2: Enter Your User Code

Enter your assigned user code when prompted.

Step 3: Verify System Status

The keypad should display:

  • DISARMED
  • SYSTEM READY

This confirms the system has been successfully disarmed.


Troubleshooting

System Will Not Arm

Possible causes:

  • A door or window is open.
  • A protected zone is faulted.
  • The system is not displaying SYSTEM READY.

Verify all protected openings are secured and try again.

Invalid Code Message

  • Re-enter your user code carefully.
  • Ensure you are using an active authorized code.
  • Contact your system administrator if issues persist.

Alarm Activates During Entry

  • Proceed directly to the keypad upon entering.
  • Enter your code before the entry delay expires.

Best Practices
  • Never share your user code with unauthorized individuals.
  • Confirm the keypad shows the correct armed or disarmed status before leaving.
  • Report any keypad errors or unusual system behavior to FSS Technologies immediately.
  • Regularly test your access code to ensure proper operation.
